  UNBIND YOUR MIND
and
MIND FLEXORS

The Freedom to Be Creative

Perhaps the most important attribute anyone brings to the marketplace today is his or her creativity: the ability to work in the realm of possibility, to think up fresh approaches, and to keep an open mind. Unbind Your Mind
is a practical approach to creativity and is based on three assumptions:

Creativity is a skill that can be developed through practice.
How we think about creativity influences how creative we are.
Creativity must be constantly renewed.

Unbind Your Mind is based on extensive research about the characteristics of creative people. Author Dr. Janelle Barlow has identified six basic characteristics that creative people share. These could also be called styles of thinking or even work tactics:

Fluency of ideas
Withholding of judgment
Tolerance of ambiguity
Flexibility or imagination
Focus or immersion in the subject
Preference for disorder/chaos/ irregularity/assymetry.

With regular practice of these characteristics, we improve in our creative expression and thereby better express our own uniqueness.

Unbind Your Mind contains 365 Mind Flexor exercises (a full year's worth of practice!) for experimenting with these six basic characteristics. Each Mind Flexor takes approximately 30 seconds to 3 minutes to practice. Some Mind Flexors are started at the beginning of the day and processed throughout the day. The Mind Flexors can be done by individuals or groups of people wishing to share their creative approaches—even over the Internet. The Mind Flexors are designed with seven day's worth of Flexors on a single page, so they can be torn out of the spiral-bound binder and carried with you for one week's time.

Many trainers and process facilitators like to use the Mind Flexors as mental warm-ups for their groups or as ice-breakers. Used by individuals or by groups, this book is a true treasure in terms of its original approach, easy applicability and literally hundreds of exercises. TMI, USA also offers practical and tailored workshops and seminars to teach these principles. Please e-mail, write or call us for more information.
