Listening for impact — empathizing by really hearing what others say
The ability to understand another human being is a skill. It is also the basis for effective managing and coaching. Understanding and experiencing another personʼs feelings or ideas is called empathy and is primarily achieved through active listening. This session reviews and implements:
Three levels of listening — Listening to, listening for, and listening with empathy. As a skill, better listening can be developed through practice of listening at these three levels.
Listening for high performance — The best managers help everyone to be their best, but spend most of their time focusing on their “already” best employees.
Listening to the strengths of your team — Ten probing questions that reveal hidden strengths and motivation and can be used at any time.
Creating development plans based on strengths — Build a plan that will bring out the best in others based on what you have heard.
